The Great Fire of London
Cast: 53 speaking parts, but with doubling up it is quite possible to perform this play with fewer children.
With music this show runs at about 45 minutes and is suitable for children aged from 6 to 10.
THOMAS FARRINER MAKES ONE TINY MISTAKE AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS?
While making a mermaid pie for Samuel Pepys, baker Thomas Farriner turns his back on the oven and a single coal falls out.
One tiny flame becomes two. Two become many and before you can say 'bubonic plague' the whole street is on fire.
Useless mayor Thomas Bloodworth isn't brave enough to blow up people's houses to create fire breaks so it's not long before the whole city is on fire.
But it's not all bad. There's a definite upside for a certain Christopher Wren and also for some enterprising individuals there's the opportunity to 'help' desperate people move their valuables out of the city.
This will certainly be the hottest show of the year!
